PARK VIEW is an apartment in located in central Tokyo has undergone a major renovation. The client requested a serene space to enjoy arts, music and yoga.
The apartments’ main space most striking feature is the stepped wooden ceiling that guides the eye towards the park view. By framing the majestic park views in-between a wooden ceiling and floor the renovation creates a harmony between inside and outside. The embossed ceiling gives depth to the character of the room while concealing the existing beams and equipment, giving the space a distinct identity and atmosphere.
The finishes have been carefully selected in different rooms to create contrasts between materials and light and dark colors. In the bright living room, the floor and ceiling are made of beautifully grained oak, while the walls are painted with marble particles. The grey tones of the materials reflect the light and change their expression. To create a contrast between living space the materials and atmosphere are dark, sober tones. Thus, upon entering the main space the light and view are accentuated.
