KAJITA HEAD OFFICE & SHOWROOM

KAJITA HEAD OFFICE & SHOWROOM is a Jeweller’s headquarters, showroom and workshop located in the affluent shopping area of Omotesando in Tokyo. The building was designed to resemble a jewelry box; a simple distinctive building shape that perpetuates an aura of impregnability whilst protecting the luxurious interiors and the treasures it beholds.

The design’s most prominent feature is a triple floor light-well that connects the office space and showroom to the outside world whilst safely enclosing them within the jewelry box. It is here inside the showroom where the clientele can glance over the treasures on display and appraise the gems that may be used in their custom jewels.

The room is lined with an array of luxurious materials and illuminated by both , the daylight, penetrating the building from above and a dimly lit grid off lights. Meanwhile the office above exudes a different character even though it shares the same light-well. The office has a simple, minimal interior and provides the staff with a bright working area, meeting spaces and an indoor balcony. The top floor continues the minimalistic theme set out in the office space and enriches it with a grand window, offering panoramic views for both executive meetings and staff workshops. The light-well offers the staff permanent access to daylight as opposed to the limited daylight timeframe of traditional horizontally orientated windows and office spaces.
